Notifications
Notifications is one feed for every alert the firm's activity raises — client updates, internal changes, billing and financial events, calendar and deadline items, and reminders — so staff can catch up in one place and jump straight to the record behind each alert.
What's in the feed, and how to filter it
Filter tabs across the top narrow the feed to one category at a time; switching tabs reloads the list for that category. Notifications are always sorted newest first, and the list is grouped into Today, This week and Earlier sections with sticky headers — an empty section is simply hidden.
| Tab | Scope |
|---|---|
| All | Every notification, regardless of category or read state. |
| Unread | Only notifications not yet read. A notification drops out of this view once it's read. |
| Client-related | Client updates. |
| Internal | Internal changes. |
| Billing & financial | Billing and financial events. |
| Calendar & deadline | Calendar and deadline items. |
| General | A category of its own, alongside the others. |
| Reminders | Reminders — this tab exists here as well as on the standalone Reminders page. |
Each row shows a category/entity icon, a title, a short description and a relative timestamp. An unread row carries a small dot until it is read.
Reading a notification
Selecting a row marks it read (if it wasn't already) and navigates to whatever it's about — so it disappears from the Unread view the next time that view loads. Where it lands depends on the kind of notification:
| Notification is about | Where it opens |
|---|---|
| A calendar item | The Calendar, anchored to that day with the item's detail sheet already open — or with no anchor, if the item can't be resolved. |
| A reminder | The Reminders page. |
| A membership or milestone change | The parent legal matter's page. |
| A task | The Tasks table — pre-filtered by the notification's title when the specific task can't be resolved by id. |
| Any other record type | That record's own detail page. |
If no destination can be worked out at all, nothing is opened and a brief "unavailable" message appears — the notification is still marked read.
Marking as read
- Read state is per notification. Opening a row, or using Mark all as read, updates it immediately with no confirmation step, and reading is not reversible from this screen.
- Mark all as read respects the active filter: it clears only the notifications in the category currently selected, except under All or Unread, where it clears the whole feed. It's unavailable while the feed is empty or while it's working.
Loading more, and empty states
Older notifications load automatically in pages of 20 as you near the bottom, with a manual Load more button as a fallback; the control disappears once there is nothing left to load. What the empty state says depends on context: the Unread tab with nothing outstanding reads as "all caught up," a category tab with no matches reads as "nothing in this filter," and the All feed with no notifications at all shows a generic empty message.
Who sees it
Notifications is part of the firm workspace and open to every firm staff member — there are no per-role differences in what the feed shows or allows. What notification types reach you outside the feed, such as push notifications, is a personal setting covered on Your account.
