Onboarding checklist

Both HAQQ products walk a new account through a checklist. This is the same path, written out end to end, so you can see what setup involves before you begin — and come back to whichever step you left.

The in-product checklist. Three done here; the last three are the ones that put HAQQ on real work.

Which list applies depends on what you bought. HAQQ Legal AI is the AI itself and its checklist is eight steps. HAQQ eFirm is practice management and its checklist is thirteen, because a firm has more to configure before a matter can be opened. If you have both, do the Legal AI list first: it is the shorter path to a working answer.

Eight steps from an empty workspace to an answer with citations. Nothing here needs a credit card; the free tier covers all of it.

StepWhat it does
Create your workspaceYour firm's home on HAQQ. Matters, documents, and team all live inside it.
Invite a team memberEveryone works from the same files. You control who sees what with Owner, Admin, and Member roles.
Set up billingFree costs nothing and needs no card. Starter, Pro and Business add capabilities, storage, and higher AI limits. Top up credits if you need more than your plan's allowance.
Set your AI defaultsChoose the agent that starts every chat, switch on reasoning to see how it reached an answer, and set your export format.
Refer a colleagueSend HAQQ to another person. You both get free credit when they join.
Create your first projectOne client, one place. Documents, hearings, tasks, and billing all attach to it.
Upload your first filePDFs, Word, and scans. HAQQ reads them and keeps them ready for the AI.
Send your first promptAsk the AI anything about your matter. Every answer links to the law it came from.

HAQQ eFirm — run your firm on HAQQ

Thirteen steps. The first five are configuration you do once, and everything a matter inherits comes from them — so it is worth doing them in order rather than opening a matter first and correcting it later.

Set your firm preferencesWorking hours, currency, timezone, and how your matters are numbered.
Open your first legal matterAdd the client, pick the practice area, open the file. Documents, hearings, tasks, and invoices all attach to it.
Upload your first documentContracts, filings, and scans. Stored on the matter and readable by your AI Twin.
Ask your AI Twin about a matterIt already has the file. Ask for a summary, the risks, or what's due next.
Add your first hearingCourt, judge, and date. HAQQ reminds you before the court does.
Assign your first taskOwner, due date, matter. It appears on their board.
Track your first billable hourHit Start Timer on a matter. It lands on your timesheet and your invoice.
Send your first invoiceTurn logged time and expenses into a bill your client can pay.
Import your contactsBring your client list in instead of typing it twice.

Where each step is documented

The checklist is deliberately terse — it is a to-do list, not a manual. Every step has a page behind it: Create an account and Invite users cover the first two rows of both lists, Subscription plans and Credits and usage cover billing and the credit pool, and AI settings covers the defaults step. For the eFirm rows, everything under HAQQ eFirm follows the same order as the table above.
